Samudra - 2021
A followup single to Tales of A Traveller, Samudra is a 2-track single inspired the raw power and beauty of the Tasman Sea off New Zealand’s West Coast. Drawing its name from the Sanskrit word for “ocean”, Samudra contains two tracks that attempts to encapsulate this natural phenomenon through the lens of neo-classical and contemporary jazz piano. The first track (titled “The Migration”) is an 11 minute, through-composed epic that was originally premiered at the TedXTauranga conference in July 2021, while the second track is an extended cut of my 2020 hit Typhoon featuring additional sections drawing inspiration from Carnatic classical music and “djent” metal stylings.
